Promise !!

The importance of a promise to a friend or a loved one. To what limit shall it be respected or there is no limit to begin with ??

A person to meet,
a companion to talk..
A promise to make,
a pledge to chalk....

A bond of importance,
a committment to make..
Love or friendship,
never should it break....

A pact so sacred,
to deny it is a sin..
A bond so powerful,
that for eternity it should win....

For love one lives,
for the same one dies..
but when this love walks away,
why then one cries ??

Promise is between two souls,
it is understanding of two minds..
if one leaves the ground,
why to it the other still binds....

Why is this pledge so valuable,
that one should be tied to it..
If the other forsakes the bond,
then why should one die for it ??

Replied I am to this,
that to change & adopt is must..
If one clings to it forever,
then in the end he is bound to burst....

Time & patience is all,
when one is hurt in such..
But further when I inquired,
no one could tell me much....

Could time be an answer ??
'cause once a scar, always a one..
Could patience be an ointment ??
'cause once burnt, ashes can't be undone....

To adhere is bold & brave,
but foolish many of us say..
To respect a promise broken,
means with life one has to pay....

Why still bow to it ??
when other respects it not..
Why not be practical ??
and evade from getting rot....

To stand firm is noble,
it is honorable & courageous..
To unshake the very bond,
is trusting & righteous....

But weak is the heart,
that it can't see reality..
so the humane mind says,
to withdraw should be a certainty....

Life is to enjoy & cherish,
to brood is not an option..
Seeking another mate is advised,
another companionship be thy intention...

What is gone is gone,
repent should one not..
Past is left behind,
for the future should you now trot....

To leave when needed most,
isn't that falsehood to say ??
To stand beside the promise,
to strengthen it & pray....

Pray for whom is asked,
for one who leaves you back ??
Why still bowing to them ??
strength & trust when they lack....

Weak is your soul,
feeble is thy heart..
Accept & move on,
another you will surely find....

Drawn you haven't the first blood,
why then feel guilty inside ??
The sinner walks proudly,
yet with the relation you abide....

An answer is sought,
for what is to be done..
To abide by what is promised,
or let the promise undone....

To conclude from what I hear,
the promise must be given respect..
but accept when another comes,
don't deny the "second chance" aspect....

Don't be first to break,
don't be one to walk away..
Uphold the pledge till the time,
another comes your way....

To love is natural,
to befriend is virtuous..
to betray is sin,
to alienate is unrighteous....

I am still not sure of this,
of what to accept or not..
So ask I do, if anyone reads,
if an answer to this you have got....
